What is a "unit"?
A unit is a fixed percentage of your total bankroll — usually 1%. If your bankroll is $2,000, one unit is $20. You size every bet in units, not dollars, so your stakes scale with your bankroll automatically.
Why flat betting beats chasing
New bettors bet big when they are confident and bigger when they are losing (chasing). Both wreck bankrolls. Flat betting — risking the same 1–2 units on every play — smooths out variance and protects you through the inevitable cold streaks.
